Registration opens at 9am
Misty Mountain Games is inside a long strip mall called Rolling Meadows Shopping Center Coming from Hwy 51(S Stoughton Rd), go east on Cottage Grove Rd (Hwy Bb) for about a mile. You'll cross a stoplight at Acewood Blvd, and at the next street, turn left at Pizza Hut. The first driveway on the left takes you into the Mall parking. Misty Mountain is about half way down, between Great Clips and Dominos. It's easy to find.
Don't let the outside fool you... there's over 3000 sq ft of gaming space inside! Format - The tournament is run using the Modified Format and Swiss pairings. See the Rules and Resources page for additional information about the Modified and Swiss formats. The number of Swiss rounds run will depend on total attendance of the event. After Swiss rounds are complete, there will be a cut to single-elimination finals. The number of players to qualify for the finals will depend on the total attendance in each age division, with a maximum of 16 players playing off in any one division. Due to the number of players we will likely have, (anywhere from 120-160) we anticipate having 6 rounds for the Juniors and Seniors with Top 8 Finals, and 7 rounds for the Masters with Top 16. We'll have a tentative timetable soon. S/P/T Championship events have a K-Value of 32, same as Regionals and Nationsl. For more information on K-Value, Ratings, and Rankings, click here. Prizes - Prizes will be awarded in each of the 3 age groups:
Side Events - We will have a variety of Side Events, some for a small fee to enter, some for free, depending on player interest at the event. We'll have sign up sheets at the event. This might include:
Contests - Art Contest - For those of you who like to be Creative, we'll have an Art Contest! We'll have a variety of things to let your inner Artist out, including different catagories, such as Coloring, Drawing, and Other Artwork. Create your own Pokemon related masterpiece there at the event in our Art Corner, using our crayons, markers, stickers and other supplies, or bring your own original submission with you to enter. Let's see just how creative you all can be! Dice Dilemna! - Be the closest one to guess the number of dice in the jar and win 4 Booster Packs! Counter Counting! - If you guess the closest number of damage counters in the jar, you'll win 4 Booster Packs! Pokemon Hats! - I have personally sewn these cute fleece Pokemon Hats and will have drawings for each of them separately. Enter for the chance to win any of them and wear them proudly!
Chansey's Chance Raffle - For a Common Chansey - 1 ticket Pikas for Packs Raffle - Art Corner Activities If we have enough table space after seating all of our players (which of course has to take priority), we will also have other fun things to do in between rounds in our Art Corner, including:
States Mini League Get a special States 'Mini League Card' and play other players in between rounds, in either the TCG or the Video Game, and choose from a variety of special 'Mini League Prizes' for completing a row of matches. Hopefully we'll be able to have a designated area for this 'in between rounds' activity, otherwise you can just carry your cards with you and play available players. But of course first and formost everyone needs to be respectful of those playing in the Competition. Hotels - Food - So what should I bring to this event or do to prepare? I would suggest that you come to this Premiere Event as prepared as possible, so that your experience will be as fun and stress free as it can possibly be. We want you to have a great time, we don't want you to be nervous or freak out because you forgot something or didn't realize you needed to do something. So here are some tips for you to make sure you have a great tournament... Print your decklist out ahead of time so that you can have it all filled out when you get there (and make sure it's neat so we can read it!) Or try the very simple to use Decklist Maker at PokeGym! That way you can have fun talking with everyone, browsing at the store or making new friends. There will be a lot going on that morning, and you can easily get very distracted trying to write out a decklist there. You don't want to have a mistake on your list that might cost you a match, when it could have easily been avoided by writing out your decklist ahead of time at home. But don't worry, we will have decklists available there at the event if you're not able to print them out ahead of time. Get plenty of rest and be sure to have yourself a good breakfast before you come! You'll be able to concentrate better if you don't get distracted listening to your stomach growling! Don't bring more 'stuff' than you can easily keep track of... we can't be responsible for lost items. If you bring a backpack, keep it at your feet with a foot on a strap maybe. And it's a good idea to put your name on things too :) Make sure you have everything you need... damage counters or dice, or a coin or clear round-edged die for flipping heads or tails, some spare sleeves in case one of yours gets ripped or damaged, and something to keep your stuff in. Bring along a couple dollars... it's going to be a long day, you'll probably get hungry, and we will have some great food available at the nearby restaurants. Besides, there will also be some good stuff for sale at Misty Mountain, including Pokemon cards, tins, boosters and other cool stuff. Check your deck over before you get there... make sure your cards aren't damaged or 'marked' in any way, that your deck has 60 cards exactly, and that it's all in the Modified format. Email me with any other questions you might have, so we can get them answered prior to the event. Parents/Helpers
