Cost: $25 (Includes 6 booster packs to build your deck with and keep afterwards, plus exclusive sleeves, a promo card, and 2 more booster packs at the end of the tourney! Over $35 worth of stuff!) (here's a Google Map for you) Don't worry, to accommodate our usual number of players comfortably in the gameroom, we'll hold it at 2 separate times during the same day. And we will still have a Theme Deck Challenge available, but most likely just in the 2pm one. *********************************************************************** As usual, we will be having two different ways to play in the Prerelease: Want to get some extra booster packs? Bring in your friends, neighbors, parents... for every new person you bring in to play, in either the Main Event or the Theme Deck Challenge, I'll give you a bonus pack! Let's face it, Pokemon is a GREAT game, we ALL love it, and it's MORE fun the more people who play! This is going to be a VERY exciting new set and this is the very first day it's available too! You won't want to miss it!! Also keep in mind the spirit of a Prerelease is non-competitive, with no real pressure to win, which is why everyone will receive prize packs at the end. The main objective is to have fun and check out all the new cards! But don't worry, we'll have LOTS of random pack giveaways throughout the day! I also have some really cool door prizes to give out... besides packs and sleeves and such, I'll give out a free Pass to our next Prerelease worth $25, as well as some other great door prizes! You can be sure we'll have a good time! Oh and of course, I'll bake a treat for everyone! We'll also have Soda,candy bars, booster packs, dice, and all kinds of other products available right there at the store for you!
So... here's some more info about the event.... to help you decide! ************************************************************************ Stormfront Prerelease
Main event - Each player will receive 6 booster packs of the new set (to keep) and may start opening their packs. Players will each build their own 40 card deck (using only those cards from the 6 packs) to play in the tourney and write down their decklist, deciding how many energies they will want to include in their decks. ( no trading cards with others until after the Tourney) Basic energies are provided on loan, and for this Prerelease we will also have special Proxie Basic Dark and Basic Metal Energies. Everyone will then have 30 minutes to build their decks using the cards from the packs they received. And don't worry, it's not really that hard to build your own deck... generally there aren't a whole lot of trainers in a set, so you'll usually want to include as many of them that will be helpful as you can. You want to make sure you have as many basic Pokemon as you can, and include any evolutions that you might have been lucky enough to get as well. Try to keep your deck to 2 or 3 types, like Fire and Electric or whichever, because that will be helpful to you in drawing the particular energies you need for your Pokemon's attacks. Of course Colorless type Pokemon can fit nicely into any type of deck since they can use any type of energy you happen to have. Since your deck needs to be 40 cards in total, a relatively simple rule of thumb would be 20 energies and 20 in any combination of basics, their evolutions (if you got any), and trainers. Then, just decide how many of which type of energies you'll need to get by looking over the energy requirements for your Pokemon's attacks. And that's pretty much all there is to it! Remember, it's a tournament for fun, so don't stress over building 'the perfect deck'... just have fun with it!
Prizes:ALL participants who finish will receive 2 more Stormfront prize packs at the end of the tourney ************************************************************************ Stormfront Prerelease This special tourney will be separate from the main event and follows a much more casual format. Great for younger players, parents, or those who may not be as familiar with deck building on their own, but would still like to participate. If you don't know how to play, we can teach you! Each player will choose one of 2 different Stormfront Theme Decks to use to battle others who also choose the Theme Deck Challenge, and the nice thing about playing the Theme Deck Challenge is that each Theme Deck also comes with one of the new Rulebooks and playmats, a special coin, and your own damage counters, all very useful tools for the newer players. And all participants in this Theme Deck Challenge will ALSO receive 4 more Stormfront prize packs at the end of their tourney, in addition to the decks they played. If you know you're going to want to be in the Theme Deck Challenge, let me know when you Preregister so I can mark you down for it. Or you can decide when you get there. Usually there are more players who want to play the Theme Deck Challenge in the afternoon, so that's why I have then, since it's usually more fun the more players you have. But I have enough product to run it for as many who want it this time. ************************************************************************
Since it's close to Halloween, let's enjoy it! We love to celebrate Halloween! So why not join in! Show me your Halloween spirit...You could come in a fun Costume, or bring me a pumpkin, or write me a Halloween poem or a scary story, bring me a bag of Halloween candy (yum!), or give me something 'Halloweeny' whatever you do, you'll get a ticket for a drawing for 3 Stormfront booster packs!...even if you can't be too elaborate, or can only put a little effort into it, I'll give everyone who 'gets with the Halloween Theme' and 'shows some spirit' a ticket for the drawing for 3 packs! But ...if you really impress me with something awesome that you wear or what you do or bring, I'll give you a 'Treat' booster pack in addition to the raffle ticket! But I'm not going to give away a free pack for just anything You've got to put in some good effort to earn an instant 'Treat' pack! But let's have some fun here! Plus, I'll also have "Trick or Treat" Door Prizes this time! You never know just what you'll get!
