I'm very pleased to announce that the
IL State Championships will be held in Rockford IL Sat, March 3rd!

Mark your calendars and come share in the fun in Rockford! You've heard about our tourneys, you know you want to come, so load up the car with all your Pokemon friends and head to Rockford IL! You'll be glad you did!

Where: Forest Hills Lodge of Loves Park
At Hwys 173 & 251, (1/2 mile east of Hwy 251 on Hwy 173 - SUPER easy to get to!! Here's a map link)

If you're looking at the map, Forest Hills Lodge is owned by the Rockford Speedway which is located on the corner of Forest Hills Rd and Hwy 173 about 1/2 mile east of Hwy 251. Forest Hills Lodge is actually on the Hwy 173 side, across the street from the big Speedway Auto Mall..
Coming from the North, from WI: Go South on 251, at Menards turn left on 173. Go about 1/2 mile and you'll see it on the right.
Coming from the South, from IL: Go North on 251 and turn right at Hwy 173 by Menards and the Target sign. You'll see it on the right side just a 1/2 mile or so. Can't miss it!

Lodging: For those of you who may be coming from out of town, these 2 hotels are just around the corner...

There are also very reasonable rooms available just up the street on Hwy 251 about 10-15 mins away at the Ramada Inn in South Beloit. You can check out their website for details and can book online if you're interested. Here's a link to check it out... Ramada Inn in South Beloit... high speed internet, great pool, gameroom, I've been there and it's very nice and very easy to get to. If you want room rates etc, here's a link for that too
Another, if you're on more of a budget, is the *Knights Inn (South Beloit IL) 1-815 389-2281 1710 Gardner st. (just off Hwy 251) nice, but smaller 37 room motel, but very reasonable price $48 +tax and only 10 mins or so away.

Food: There are plenty of nearby food establishments within 1/2 mile... McDonalds, Chilis, Pizza Hut, Subway, Quiznos, Starbucks, Jimmy Johns gourmet sandwiches, KFC, Long John Silvers, Monicals Pizza, Panera, Qdoba Mexican, Happy Wok, Del Taco, Beef-a-Roo.... just to name a few!

*Edit* I have arranged to have Pizza Hut Pizza available right there at the Lodge for us for only $1 a slice. There will also be various soda and bottled water for $1 a bottle too, and 100% juice boxes for .50 and bags of chips for .50. So if you're not able to drive down the road a block or so, there will be pizza, chips, juice, and soda (and my cookies too) available. You may also bring in your own food as well if you like.

Cost: Free of course!! Remember, you don't need to be a resident of the State of Illinois to enter...
All are welcome, of all ages, from far or near!

Format: Modified Constructed - Bring your best Deoxys-on Modified deck! You can check the States Decklist form below for a listing of the card sets that are legal for this event.
Most likely will be Age Separated Swiss (everyone will play within their own age group in all the rounds, the number of rounds being determined by number of players in each age group)
After the Swiss Rounds, there will be Top Cuts (up to Top 8) based on the number of players in the group.


If you want to compete but don't have a deck, no worries... we'll have plenty of Preconstructed Theme Decks available for you on sale right there! Open it up and you've got all you need to enter the Competition! We also have a few Loaner Starter Decks, in case you find your deck isn't quite modified in time for the Tournament. That way you can still enter the Competition.

Decklists will be required and here's a link to the States Decklist form so you can print it out ahead of time if you like.(pdf format) They will also be available at the event to fill out there. Please be sure to arrive early enough to have your completed decklist turned in before 10:55am as we will be printing out the pairings for Round 1 at 11am, and if you're late, you'll have to have a first round loss.

Age groups:
Junior Division: Born 1996 or later
Senior Division: Born in 1992, 1993, 1994, or 1995
Masters Division: Born in 1991 or earlier


Prizes: Of course there will be prizes!
The top 8 finishers in each of the three age categories receive the following prizes:

1st Place
• A Pokémon TCG State/Province/Territory Champion Trophy
• A $300 travel allowance to attend the Origins International Game Expo and participate in the Pokémon TCG National Championships. This award will be given on-site at your National Championships.
• Four-day admission to the Origins Game Expo in Columbus, Ohio
• 36 booster packs of Pokémon TCG: EX Power Keepers
• Other cool Pokémon Merchandise!
2nd Place
• A Pokémon TCG State/Province/Territory 2nd Place Trophy
• 16 booster packs of Pokémon TCG: EX Power Keepers
• Four-day admission to the Origins Game Expo in Columbus, Ohio
3rd & 4th Place
• A Pokémon TCG State/Province/Territory 3rd /4th Place Trophy
• 8 booster packs of Pokémon TCG: EX Power Keepers
5th through 8th Place
4 booster packs of Pokémon TCG: EX Power Keepers

Remember, this is a Title Premiere Event... so keep in mind
the following rules and restrictions:

Cards from the World's Championship Decks with the silver borders are NOT allowed in Tournaments.
Modified Format includes cards from the Deoxys set thru the Dragon Frontiers set. No sets prior to Deoxys will be allowed. Older cards reprinted in these legal sets will be allowed with the exception of the 10HP Mysterious Fossil).
Sleeves must be single color with no artwork or holographic design, other than the Japanese Pokeball or Pikachu Sleeves, or the US Pokemon Sleeves (Nidoking art ONLY)
Cards must be in uniform condition if unsleeved so as not to appear to be marked in any way.
Cheating will be dealt with severly, so don't do it! Always play honorably and fair!

Side Events (times may vary, depending on interest and availability)
We will have several Side Events scheduled at various times so that everyone can continue in the fun! Some may vary according to player interest. If you have suggestions for a side event you'd like to have, feel free to mention it! We want you to have a great time, even after the main event!

All Day - Game Boy Corner Feel free to bring your Game Boys and battle, trade Pokemon, or compare notes and stories with other players who bring theirs. Bring link cables if you have them, we'll try to have some on hand as well as chargers.

All Day Art Corner - For the young at heart! We will have crayons and markers and Card Blank Papers for you to make your own Creations! Submit them for a drawing for a prize! And of course you can get your creations back to keep when we've drawn for the prize winner.
Make your own Trainer Card - Always wanted to make your own Trainer card? Now's your chance!

Create your own Pokemon Card - Use our blank Pokemon card templates to draw in your own Pokemon and attacks. Want a Pokemon with 2000 HP? Sure! Go for it! Have fun!

Draw your own Pokemon! Have an idea for the perfect new Pokemon? What type will it be, what will it look like? Use your imaginations and see what you can come up with!

Games with an entrance fee will have Power Keeper Prizes as follows

5th - 1 pack

(Tourneys with less than 12 players will have 5 packs for 1st and 3 packs for 2nd)

3:00pm Theme Deck Challenge - Perfect for the Juniors when their main event is over! Battle each other with one of the new Power Keepers Theme Decks to keep! Cost $10

4:00pm Modified Tourney #1 - In case you didn't make the Top Cuts in your age groups, you can try again with your own Modified deck. You may use a different one than the one you used in the Main Event if you wish. Cost $5

5:00pm Sealed Deck Tourney #1 - This is for those of you who prefer the challenge of building your own 40 card deck from 6 packs given to you, that you will keep afterward. Just like at a Prerelease, basic energies will be on loan for you to use. Power Keeper packs will be used. Cost $15

5:00pm Unlimited Tourney - Dust off your old cards and bring your best Unlimited Decks for this one! All card sets are legal for this one! Cost $5

6:00pm Modified Tourney #2 - Once again, for those who finish up later or were in earlier events, we will have another Modified Tourney if there's enough interest. Cost $5

6:00pm Sealed Deck Tourney #2 - Once again, 6 packs to build a 40 card deck, including basic energies that we will provide. You keep the cards from the 6 packs that you build your deck with. Power Keeper cards will be used. Cost $15

7:00pm Super Smash Bros Melee GameCube Tourney - You've had a great day of Pokemon Tournament play, but didn't make the Top Cut... hey, you can still have fun as Pikachu, Jigglypuff, Mewtwo or many of the other great Nintendo characters in our GameCube Smash Tourney!

 

Preregistration is encouraged to move things along if you know you'll be there. (You can email me with your name, ID # and BD or tell me if you are new and I'll set you up with your POP ID#) I'll have a separate "Speed Pass" Registration table for those who are Preregistered so that you can enter the room with less waiting in line.

And as usual, our great gaming store, Tomorrow Is Yesterday will be on hand with a complete line of products to enhance your State Championships experience! Boosters packs, Deck Sleeves, cool dice sets, even Theme Decks if you need them!
