*IMPORTANT UPDATED INFORMATION*
affecting our Spring Battle Road only

Well, I have some rather bad news. As you know, we were unable to rent the Women's Club because they raised their rates AGAIN, which put it just too far out of reach to use. I tried to get the library auditorium next door, and it was already booked. Tomorrow Is Yesterday will be undergoing some rearranging at the store, which during the interim would have given us more room to work with, about twice the size of the gameroom. But it doesn't look like that will be happening in time for our Battle Road, leaving us with only room for most likely a maximum of 42 players. In discussing this unfortunate situation with some fellow PTOs, we've come to the conclusion that the only way to do it to be the most fair will be to have our Battle Road on a first come, first serve basis, and given the rather large local player base we have, will most likely make it too uncertain for out of town travelers to risk a trip for.

I really hate to have to disappoint the many players who usually come and have a great time at our events, but for this particular BR event, the timing of things just has worked against us in being able to provide our usual day of fun. This is going to be pretty hard, because I'm used to having big events with lots of players joining us from all around, and as you all know, I love seeing all of you together for the Premier Events in Rockford. But on the bright side, Fall Battle Road will most likely be a different story, but for now, this will have to be the way it is for this one. I've also been linking all the area Battle Road information below, to help you find another that's close to your location.

Again, so sorry to all of you who won't be able to join us this time, but we'll look forward to seeing you at our next event for sure!

So again, so it's clear,
I really don't recommend traveling a great distance to come to ours
unless you're ok with getting there early ...
our Rockford Battle Road will have to be
"First come, first serve"
for the first 42 players only.

The store opens at 9am, so if you really want to try to get in anyway, be there early.
Upon arrival, we'll give out numbers to the people in line
(to the first 6 per age group to start with, to make sure the tourney will be age separated)
After you get your number, you can either come in the room and fill out your decklist, playtest with others, trade cards, color in Pokemon Drawings, make your own Pokemon cards, or even go get your lunch or bring it as we won't have a lunchbreak since we'll be starting at 11.

That being said...
for those of our players who will be in the tournament, here is some information for you.

Most likely will be Age Separated Swiss (everyone will play within their own age group in all the rounds, the number of rounds being determined by number of players in each age group)

Age groups:
Junior Division (born in 1997 or later)
Senior Division (born in 1993, 1994, 1995, or 1996)
Masters Division (born in 1992 or earlier)
Also after the Swiss Rounds, in each of the 3 age groups we will have a Top Cut, with a maximum of a cut to Top 4. The Top Cut matches will be the best 2 out of 3 within a 1 hour time limit.

The top 4 finishers in each of the three age divisions will receive the following prizes:

1 st Place
8 Majestic Dawn Booster Packs
A Victory Medal—Gold promo card

2 nd Place
4 Majestic Dawn Booster Packs

3rd & 4th Place
2 Majestic Dawn Booster Packs

as well as lots of fun Door Prizes!

*********** Approximate Timetable ************

This is an approximate timetable to give you a rough idea of what to expect for the Tournament. The number of rounds will depend on the number of players for each age group, players may play in all rounds, it is not elimination, (unless they need to drop from the tourney), and they are 30 minute rounds. The Finals matches will be best 2 out of 3 during an hour's time. This timetable will most likely be for the Masters Division, as they usually have the most players. The Junior and Senior Divisions may finish up earlier, and, depending on the number of players in those groups, may have less rounds and may only have a Top 2 Finals match.

Here's the decklist form that you'll need to fill out... you can print it out now and fill it out ahead of time, or there will be copies there to fill out when you arrive. Just be sure to arrive in time to have it completed and turned in no later than 10:45am.

Store opens at 9am Decklists must be turned in by 10:45 to be entered

Round 1 - 11:00 - 11:30
Round 2 - 11:45 - 12:15
Round 3 - 12:30 - 1:00
Round 4 - 1:15 - 1:45
Round 5 - 2:00 - 2:30

Break until 3:00 while Deck Checks for Top 4
3:00 - 4:00 Top 4
4:00 - 5:00 Finals Top 2

Keep in mind:

Make sure you arrive early... this will be a 'first come, first serve' event.

  • Remember, this is Title Premiere Event... so keep in mind the following rules and restrictions:

Cards from the World's Championship Decks with the silver borders are NOT allowed in Tournaments.
Modified Format includes cards from the Holon Phantoms set thru the Majestic Dawn set. No sets prior to Holon Phantoms will be allowed. However, older cards reprinted in these legal sets will be allowed with the exception of the 10HP Mysterious Fossil, which will not). Click here to see the list. (this list doesn't include the newest set, Majestic Dawn, as I haven't updated it just yet, but it's legal, as well as POP7)
Sleeves must be single color with no artwork or holographic design, exceptions being the Japanese Pokeball or Pikachu Sleeves, or the US Pokemon Sleeves such as those from Prereleases.
Cards must be in uniform condition if unsleeved so as not to appear to be marked in any way.
Cheating will be dealt with severly, so don't do it! Always play honorably and fair!

Since we'll be limited in the number of players, the event won't take as long as it usually does when we have so many entered, so....we'll probably have time for a Side Event. Most likely a regular Modified Tourney for Majestic Dawn Prizes, unless the players there want something else. This will go on while the others are in their Top Cut matches. I'm open to having 2 side events, one for a $5 fee with larger prizes, and one for free with smaller prizes, depending on interest of those there at the time.

And of course, I'll have cookies for you!
