BATTLE ROAD TOURNAMENT - ROCKFORD
TOOK PLACE ON SUNDAY JUNE 10TH

All I can say is WOW!!

What a great turnout we had! We still had people coming in at the last minute, some were too late for the first round, but when all the numbers finally were in, we ended up with ... (drumroll please...)

83 players!

This time, we had new ones being taught in "Marriland's School of Pokemon 101", we had parents join in and play, we had lots and lots of players I heard drove 3-3 1/2 hours to get there, from all different directions, many from even farther away! I really think many of them just love the excitement of playing in the big events, of reuniting with their other Pokemon friends from the area. of gathering in a friendly and relaxed place. . For many at this event, it was their first exposure to one of the bigger events, and an opportunity to see other enthousiastic Pokemon players... For others who like to 'travel the circuit' it's another opportunity to show what you're made of. It really is a wonderful chance for old friends and new to gather together in the heart of the Midwest, and Play, Play, Play (and apparently to eat my cookies!! I baked a ton of my Ultimate Chocolate Chip and also Peanut Butter ones for this event, and they ALL vanished pretty quickly!).

Hey! It's my good buddy Troy the Pika Dude! And there's Cheryl watching over my cookies, drinks and chips.

Once we were able to get things rolling, (Keny and I gained a few more grey hairs at the beginning) everything went really well. Strangely enough, we actually ended up with more Juniors than Seniors, a first for us I believe. The final numbers turned out to be 21 in the Juniors, with 5 rounds, 18 in the Seniors with 4 rounds, and 44 in the Masters with 6 rounds. Each of the age groups was able to have a Top 4 cut,but keep in mind that we were limited to a Top 4 cut for this event, no matter how many players we had.. Here is how it ended up:

Big congrats to our TIY players who made it to Top 4 and beyond!
